Founded in 1948, the firm of Brash Realty Co., Inc. was one
of the first real estate firms in the nation to specialize
in the sales of hotel and motel properties.
In 1959, H. William Brash together with seven other firms
in the United States joined forces to form a hotel/motel brokerage
association known as Motel Brokers Association of America
(MBAA), today known as Hotel Brokers International (HBI).
The association grew over the years to become the largest
hotel and motel brokerage association in the world with present
membership of 33 offices worldwide. The association sold $513,915,428
million in hotel and motel properties in 1999, $699,035,491
million in 2000 and over $340 million in 2001. Since 1987-2001
the association members have collectively sold over 2,702
hotel properties worldwide.
Over the years Brash Realty Co., Inc. has consistently been

In 1959 Brash Realty Co., Inc. was the first brokerage firm
to conduct a Hotel Buyers Seminar. Taking place each year
in Chicago, brokers from across the country would present
their listings to perspective buyers in a “one-on-one”
forum. This format was so successful that HBI adopted this
concept. Each year HBI brokers conduct four Hotel Investment
Marketplaces throughout the U.S. to “showcase”
their inventory of hotels/motels to hundreds of qualified
buyers in this one-day event. Afterwards the attendees can
meet “one-on-one” with individual brokers to discuss
specific properties in their inventory as well as representatives
from franchise companies, lenders, and others that provide
services to the hospitality industry. HBI also publishes TransActions
by HBI, the leading source of hotel real estate data for the
real estate, lending and appraisal industries.

H. William Brash - Chairman
Mr. H. William Brash is the founder of Brash Realty Co.,
Inc. and one of the eight founding members of the HBI. He
has been past President of the HBI, a distinguished director
of numerous boards, and has represented institutions such
as the Northern Trust Bank in Chicago and Hyatt Corporation.
Mr. Brash has been involved in the brokerage of over 300 motel
and hotel transactions. In addition, he has served on behalf
of the United States Courts as an expert witness in numerous
legal proceedings involving the hospitality industry and has
acted as an advisor to many hotel corporations. He is considered
to be one of the nationally renowned experts in the hospitality
industry both as a consultant and a broker. Throughout the
years Mr. Brash has owned and operated over 40 hotels and
motels nationwide. Mr. Brash is a graduate of the University
of Illinois.
Scott D. Brash - President
Scott D. Brash has thirty years experience in sales, brokerage, operations and ownership in the hospitality industry. He has been involved in over 450 hotel and motel transactions. He has authored articles or been quoted in numerous publications, which include Hotel Motel Management Magazine, Crain’s Chicago Business, Hotel Business, Real Estate Forum, Milwaukee Business Journal, Chicago Tribune, St. Louis Post, and Holiday Inn Worldwide Franchise newsletter. He has served on the HBI Board of Directors for 8 years and also the board of directors for a Chicago area lending institutions for 7 years. Mr. Brash is continuously asked for his opinion on the state of the hotel industry by leading authorities and magazines. He has been asked to serve on panels offering their insights on the future of the hospitality industry. He was awarded the prestigious “Salesman of the Year Award” in 1981, “Top Broker for the North Central Region” in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 2003. Throughout the years Mr. Brash has owned and operated twelve hotels and motels regionally. Mr. Brash is recognized as one of the leading authorities in the hotel industry. Mr. Brash is a graduate of the University of Illinois.
Lili Gewargis - Vice President
Lili Gewargis started to work at Brash Realty Co. in 1994. Since receiving her real estate salesperson license in 2000, she has concentrated on meeting with buyers and sellers in the brokerage of motels and hotels. Hotel Brokers International, the country’s leading association of hotel brokers at an awards ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 31, in San Antonio, Texas, presented Ms. Gewargis with a Sales Achievement Award for Record Number of Transactions and Dollar Volume Awards 2003 for combined personal bests. In January 2005 Ms. Gewargis was presented the HBI Most Successful Sales Associate Award 2004 for the North Central Region. In addition, the 2004 Record Dollar Volume Awards for personal bests went to Ms. Gewargis. In 2006 Ms. Gewargis was presented the Top Regional Salesperson Award for the North Central Region.
In 2006, Ms. Gewargis served as an associate director on the Board of Directors for the Hotel Brokers International which is governed by an eleven-member Board of Directors and on the Annual Meeting Planning Committee. |
